Mrs Karen Finney (nee Dunn)

Dental Therapist (University of Liverpool 2006) (GDC No. 106162)

Dental Therapist (University of Liverpool 2006) (GDC No. 106162)

Since my Dental career began after leaving school, I always had a keen interest in the clinical side of patient care. Moving from Reception duties on to General Dental Nursing and then from there to Community Dental Nursing. I trained for my qualification as a Dental Therapist at The University of Liverpool Dental Hospital. I qualified in December 2006 and began my career at Weston Dental Centre in January 2007. My position was part time, initially to provide a Hygienist service for the practices Denplan patients. My hours have now increased and I currently provide a wider range of treatments as prescribed by the Dentist's within my scope of practice. My main area of work is providing the treatment and prevention of Periodontitis (Gum Disease) and placing direct restorations (Fillings). I am always keen to develop my skills and keep up to date with Continued Professional Development. In future I plan to train further and add tooth whitening to my scope of practice. I ensure the patients have the best possible treatment experience and I have a particular interest in treating nervous patients, building confidence and reducing anxiety at each appointment. I work closely with the Dentists to ensure patients treatment outcomes and expectations are met.
